Robert Wayne "Bob" Wenger, 89, of Wabash, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord at 8:43 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Miller's Merry Manor East in Wabash. He was born December 25, 1920 in Elkhart County, Indiana to Allen G. and Maude E. (Harter) Wenger.
Bob married Helen M. Norwood in Wabash on January 21, 1948. He worked 37 1/2 years for General Tire of Wabash until his retirement in March of 1986. He was a member of the Wabash Christian and Missionary Alliance Church several years and a US Army World War II veteran. Bob enjoyed tinkering on cars, and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Wenger of Wabash; five children, Edward A. (Barbara) Wenger of Elkhart, Indiana, Rebecca E. Reynolds of Ada, Oklahoma, Benjamin J. (Debra) Wenger of Pass Christian, Mississippi; Audrey M. (Donald) Davis of Peru, Indiana, and Linda Lou (John) Myers of North Manchester, Indiana; 12 grandchildren, Wayne E. (Jenny) Wenger of Elkhart, Lester R. (Vandi) Reynolds of Ada, Robert (Lori) Reynolds of McAlister, Oklahoma, Debra D. (TJ) Brock of Texas, Brian J. (Nikki) Verdigets of Pass Christian, Dustin (Rhonda) Davis of Mentone, Indiana, Brandon L. Hibbard and Brett M. (Daisy) Hibbard, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Christopher M. Myers of North Manchester, and Noelle D. (Daniel) Pulliam of Indianapolis, DJ Hargrove and Keri Hargrove, both of Elkhart; 8 great grandchildren; and his brother, Gerald Wenger of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Thomas Wenger, and two sisters, Audrey Davis and Marjorie Poff.
Funeral services will be held at Wabash Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 1200 N. Cass Street, Wabash, on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Revs. Don Mitchell and Mike Hornback officiating. Entombment will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County, Indiana. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Sunday, February 21 at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Wabash Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
